Greetings fellow B.A.R.E.S. Members,
This year we will be participating as a club in the Georgia QSO Party Contest. This has always been a great event and I'm sure it will be enjoyed by all. In addition to the contest, the club will have a spring picnic as an opportunity for some outdoor fun and fellowship. This will be a family event, so bring the entire family for a fun day in the sun. This is also a great opportunity for those who might be interested in ham radio. We will have several stations and antennas on the air during the contest.
The contest and picnic will be held at the Carl Park, 1690 Carl Bethlehem Rd in Carl, GA. At this time we are planning for a three station arrangement. Two SSB stations and one station dedicated to CW. If you would like to participate in this event, we are looking for volunteers in the following areas:
- Operators - Still Needed
- Setup & Tear Down - Still Needed
If you are interested in helping, please email Bill Wilson, KJ4EX and/or Steven Donellan, N5SMD
The BARES Awards and Recognition Committee has approved awards for BARES Operators that participate in the BARES Spring Contest/GQP Event. Specifics on the awards are still being decided; possibilities include BARES Coffee Cups, BARES T-Shirts, BARES Hats, or perhaps an Antenna or two. Some of the basic criteria include active Radio Operations at the event, and overall good Ham Radio Operations and Spirit.
Listed below are some of the operational details for the contest that were set by the South East Contest Club and Southeastern DX Club.
